Technologies in my career

The most important step in the student´life is ingress to university. Each year millions of young postulate for ingress to the best universities of country. Fortunately I had the opportunity to sing in the best university of Chile: Universidad de Chile. My dream since that I was a little girl..was ingress to medicine... I had my stethoscope...my doctor toy set.. and I was happy with that, but destiny decided other way for me. I enter to obstetric and actually I very happy for that... I feel that my career is fantastic and I love it.

In the first time I thought that university would be easy, but it wasn´t like I supposed. The first week we had a class in computer room and we had to work with a program called Hypercell. This program was in english and was very difficult to use. Teachers teach us web-sites for search health information. Websites like Pubmed or Cielo. These websites are very good but the problem is that they are in english and this is a little more complicated than spanish for me. This initiative of introduce the spirit of self-learnig since startup is very important because the idea of a new education is based in self-learning, where students are capable of search by themselves current information and do their own educational training, without help of a teacher.

Other instance with computer room was each friday in english class. We had to do blogs with a particular theme and write about that and then post to my friends. This experience was easier than the use of hypercell because each one wrote their own opinions. It was very good with respect to practice write-english and know the use of virtual dictionary, improving vocabulary.

With respect to experiences with technology nearer than the use of computer.. I had to learn to use microscope. I love microscope because I can see a lot of amazing things. I remember the first class that I can use microscope. I had to see a tree leaf and was impressive see small worms crawling. Technology goes beyond what we can see.

Is very important that people have a good use of technology since childhood, particulary in this epoch, because now all is based in technololy... information is in internet, , comunication is internet(chat, mail,etc), until trees family are in internet! and in a future no far... We will can do all for internet... and is very probable that the dreamed (nightmare for some) of education only for internet will be reality.

challenges in my discipline

Hi friends! Today I´m going to tell you about my career and the challenges in this. In the different areas of my discipline, there are a lot of challengues for midwives.
For example, with respect to technology there are instruments and objects that I have to learn to use.. for example a spectacle, ultrasound, stethoscope, monitors, technology of delivery room, pressure kit, etc. This should be resolved if we study hard, and practice early the use of pressure kit. stethoscope, etc.. for this we are actually in university.. for learn and be in the future the best midwives and here we will learn the use of the instruments of our discipline. In education the challenge of midwives will be teach to people about topics like sex education, birth control, family orientation, breastfeeding classes, etc...this should be resolved with better educational programs...and for do that we have to know to do a good analysis of population and identify the main needs. This is achieved only if we have the disposition and desire for a healthier society... I mean with vocation. With respect to social Matters, the rol and the challenge of midwives is fight for improve society in relation to health.. for this we need vocation of service and love for job.

The critical issues involved in each area are:
with respect to techcology.. in the future will be more new instruments because te technology is evolving. With respct to education.. day to day therea are new problems in society .. and new challenges for us.. for example new diseases, ore unwanted pregnancies, more deaths for sexually transmitted diseases like SIDA..etc.

I believe that for be a good professional and the best midwife, the most importante is the love for the career.. and with this love.. the challenges that appear on the way .. will be easily solved.

improving my faculty

Hi friends!! Today I´m going to talk you about my faculty. I study in medicine faculty of "Universidad de Chile". The current situation in my faculty is good in general but lately we have had some problems like manifestations of the non-teaching staff and the most important for obstetric: the dispute between midwives and nurses about the care of baby: neonatology. The college of midwives has do a lot of meetings for search a solution for the situation...but all depends of health minister because she decides if gives the care of baby for nurses (this in my opionon is unjust and ridicule because always midwife has been the responsible of this). In relation of technology of my faculty I believe that all is fine exept computers of library. The computers are very old and only a few are available. My first step to dealing with this situation will be make a survey about the people that want new computers and then present the opinions to dean for search a solution. The real benefits and impact of these improvement will be the speed for do things and the optimization of library because with more computers are more students that are learning. A recomendation will be fight for our rights and require a best technology because is inconceivable that the best university of Chile have not elements so basic like these.

My hobbies

Hi my friends! Today I´m going to talk you about my hobbies. Well I have a lot of hobbies... there are a million of things that I like to do. For example I like to sing, to dance, and my favorite hobbie is play the piano. When I was a little girl always I was singing or dancing! my mom tells me that my favorite song was "the puppy dance" and I dressed me with a mini skirt and danced for all my family... with only three years old!!. With respect to sing.. I love to sing!!I sing since 4 years old approximately, but only when I was 10 years old I know of my true talent. In secundary I joined to choir of my school.I with my choir participated in a lot of contests like "Crecer cantando" and "Festival de coros Andres Bello" We always were clasificates but we never won... I was in choir until 2008, and I was very sad when I had to left it. I left it when I finished secundary. Well I told you that my favorite hobbie was play the piano. I started to play piano at 14 years old. For play piano is necessary have agile fingers and coordination for use both hands. These three hobbies have help me to developed my personality in relation to my humanistic and artistic areas, I have met new people.. developing my sociability. The dance and sing make me get in touch with other people, for example in dance I can have a partner or a group for dance... but when I play piano I work individually or sometimes I play with my sister. She plays piano too.
I hope always can practice my hobbies... but actually I have little time.. because the university deals me my free times.

my holiday destinations

Hi friends... I want to tell you about some places that I would like to visit. I would like to visit Europe in general but especially France and Italy. I always have dream to be in Eiffel tower and see all city at nigh with my family and boyfriend.... in Italy I would like buy the most fashion clothes and go to a great restaurant of pastas. Also a place very different that I would like to visit is Caribe. I would like to relax myself enjoying the sun, the sand and the sea, take a lot of pictures, wear my swimsuit and get a perfect tan! At night obviously go to the greatest disco and dance all night long.I never have traveled out of Chile but I know incredible places. In 2004 I went to Pucon with my family and it´s a beautiful place. In 2007 I went to Pucon again with my friends and it was fabulous!!!. In Pucon is located Villarica´s lake with rent of aqua bike. Villarica´s lake is surprisingly big!!!. Also there are a lot of shopping places, craft fairs, candy shops, mermelade shops and adrenaline!!! because there is a center of sports called Trancura. Trancura offers canopy, rafting, baths and rides.! I was very happy when I experimented canopy and rafting!!!

Well in this summer I believe that I going to "La Serena", with my family including my cousins and boyfriend ...and I like this place because the weather is very sunny. It will be fantastic because always with my cousins I have a great time, we play in the sand, we swim in the beach, we go out at night, etc! In La Serena the principal atraction is “The faro” and the beach ...and obviuslyI will take pictures of all that I see. I going to there in february, but in january I going to Algarrobo with my friends. With they I will take sun all day and at night I going to "Pao.Pao" or "Sub-terra", the best discos of Algarrobo!!!

Scientists harvest stem cells from placentas for future treatments

The last years scientists have been working in an important health advance. It consists in use placentas after birth because it have cells that can be used for try a lot of complicated diseases like: thalassaemia, leukaemia and sickle cell disease.

Frans Kuypers (of the Children's Hospital and Research Centre) and his team found that placenta contained up to five times as many as cord blood.

There are a lot of types of stem cell and the most versatiles come from embryos .. but there is a big ethical problem in use embryo´s stem cells because some believe that is a crimen ( because they´re killing a life.). However adults have stem cells too...for example in bone marrow...but this cells there aren´t pluripotent like embryos cell... there are multipotent. ( pluripotent cell gives origin at all type of cell.. and multipotent cell gives origin at cells of the same lineage).

Also Kuypers showed that placent had the same characteristics of cord blood, however in placents cells are more primitive, meaning they are more versatile.. A good new is that every time more parents take the decition of freeze the cord blood of their newborn children with the hope that it might one day prove useful for treatments.

A sporting life

hi friends!!...I want to tell you about the importance of sport. I never has been a atletic girl, but I recognize that for have a healthy life, body needs practice any deportive activity...because when you practice a sport ..you are relaxing your body and mind. It would be perfect that every people will practice sports, but only a few are reasone. Practicing differents sport, you can improve your healthy, improve your metabolism, reduce the probability of heart´disease like infarcts, reduce problems of cholesterol, prevent obesity, and the most important relax no only your body, also your mind, forgetting the problems for a moment.
The impact that may sport have on a country's health is fantastic!...If every people in the future will practice a minimun physical activity, one day for week, for example dance, Jogging, walk ( no take locomotion)... healthy problems reduce incredibly in the world, but this is very difficult for now....

I would encourage to do more sport for children because is in childhood when the people acquires habits... if I teach to a child to dofunny gymnastics everydays, he learn that this is the correct, and also like something entertaining.

I don´t know if in the future we will have better sports people, because this depends of the motivation of each person. clearly the love for the sport can have a genetic factor, but mainly the passion for a deport or a physical activity borns of the own motivation.

Try to practice sport!!! Do it for you and for the others..!!!!

What to do / where to go in Santiago

hi! would you like to visit Santiago? I believe that if you would have the oportunity of visit this city you cannot waste it! You should visit the San Cristobal´hill, in this there are a fantastic zoo "zoologico metropolitano" and also you can enjoy the cablecar and see a panoramic view of Santiago... if you don´t like to walk, you can use the "funicular". Other fantastic place to visit is "Parque O´Higgins" because there you can share in family, boating in a small lagoon, ride in bike, ride in horses. If you are more extreme and adventurer.. you should go to "Cajón del Maipo" and practice rafting and bungee, and take a rest. In the center of Santiago there are a lot of mall with restorants, cinema, bowling, ice skating. Also you should to visit three very importants museums: the Pablo Neruda´s house "La Chascona". Pablo Neruda is a fantastic chilean writer, and his big house now is a famous museum full of history and mistery. Also "museo interactivo mirador MIM" a place where science and technology are the most important... you can interact with the differents things that the museum offer you. And the last importante museum is "Museo de Bellas artes" where you can see the wonder of the chilena art.
I recommend you eat chilean food in typical restorants like "La Piojera", you can not leave Santiago if you don´t eat a delicius "empanada"and a big plate of "porotos". An important place to visit is "La Moneda".. the government´house where there is a pool where you can throw coins and ask a wish.
I recommend you definitely visit Santiago because is a big place to meet

the rol of music

Music is very important for me because It reflects each moment of my life. When I´m sad, or when I ´m happy .. always there is a song that tells exactly my situation. I hear all kind of music... I ´m not the type of people that choose a style and believe that only this style is cool.... I hear pop, rock, clasic music, folklore, retro, reggeton, latin music, etc. I get my music from my computer or from a music store like "Feria del Disco"... when I was a little girl I followed groups like Spice girls, backstreets boys etc, but now I preffer artist like Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, etc.

When i´m studing i don´t hear music because it defocused me. When I´m happy hear happy music and when I´m sad hear sad music... because reflect my mood.

Transantiago

Hi friends! Today I´m going to speak about transantiago... In my case transantiago give me a lot of beneffits because when the yellow bus exited I had to walk very far to take a bus... but now with transantiago the bus stop is a few steps. In the start and now is the same situation... the only change has been the passage cost... in the past it was cheaper.
Transantiago have a lot of beneffits, for example the buses are cleaner than the pre-transantiago and also with the new buses there is a menor degree of contamination.... The sistem of BIP card is very practice because you can charge one day for all week, and also the way of pay is faster.
The worse is that for somebody the new covers are different, so the new bus stops are far to them.

Some changes that I would apply will be do new covers in the outskirts and also I would make it cheaper giving beneffits to students and free pass for elderly.
In general transantiago was hated at first moment, bust actually the people is used. There are a lot of positive things about transantiago and we have to recue them, because finally every change is for something better.

I would like to go to France

Hi dear friends!! I want to tell you that I would like to go to France especially to Paris because I have seen photos and is a beautiful and amazing place...and also is a very romantic... the love`s city!!! I want to know the eiffel tower, the "arco de triunfo" and the Luvre museum... I think that is a fundamental place to visit... There are pieces with a incredible historical value. I liked take pictures, eat tipical food, dance the tipical dancing, meet beautiful places, walk for the steet and buy clothes in Paris.... a lot of clothes because all there is fashion. If one day I could go there and besides study there... I will be very happy. With international studies there are a lot of opportunities that appear, and the experience that one win is unchanging. However I believe that is a very hard target, and to get it I need study so much here in my country and then think in continue my studies in the abroad, for be the best in my area.

My experiences during the first term of 2009.

Hi everybody!!! I´m very happy because the last semester was very good for me. I approved all subjects with good califications and it´s a big achievement for me...because the college is very difficult and is very different to school!!! It´s a big challenge, new subjects... new places...new faces... new experiences...but the best was the increible people that I met here in the college... my new friends. They are the best colleagues and I love them!! .After the stress of the final exams... the vacations started!!!! I had a perfect vacations with my family, boyfriend and friends!. The first week of my vacations I was in Santiago and visited a lot of awesome places. I went to Pablo Neruda´s home "La Chascona"... a place very very beautiful, interesting and with a amazing history. Also I went to cinema with my friends, we saw "Harry Potter" and ate a delicius ice cream. The second week I went to the beach with my family and my boyfriend. The weather was cold cold cold! and was imposible swim in the sea.... only we could play pallets in the sand..however it was so fun! I bought souvenirs for my grandmom and a new necklace for my dog!! When we arrived to my house I felt myself relax.!!!
I hope that this semester I can get good marks too... and that in summer my vacations are repeat because were spectacular for me!!

My blogging experience

Hi! It´s june and my english class finished soon. Every friday we had to write in the blog about a theme. It didn´t enjoy me but I believe that It had a lot of positive things. It was so tiring because sometimes ideas didn´t appear because I was exahusted for the heavy day (all days in my career are exahusting), and I had to squeeze my head for think something. However I know that blogging experience was neccesary for our english learning.

Blogging experience helps me to improve my English relative to remember the vocabulary that I had forgotten and also remember rules of redaction. In these aspects blogging experience was very productive for me.

In my opinion the advantages of blogging in the English class were the learning in contact with technology and the possibility that we can express our points of view about different themes... favoring english lenguage development. Relative to advantages I believe that the time gave for write in the blog sometimes was insufficient because we don´t know how to speak a perfect english, only we know the basics,....then we needed time for search unknown words and do a work without redaction wrongs.

In general I liked my English class but I prefer the interactive ones, for example do posters, do a play, sing songs in english, etc :) ..however I understand that it wasn’t possible for the reduced time.

A talk review

Hi friends!! I have seen the video: Sir Ken Robinson's talk "Do schools kill creativity "... and respect to this I´m completely agree with sir Ken Robinson. In my opinion, society have forgotten the true meaning of the words "passion and vocation".In the school teachers thought us a lot of things very important such math, chemical, biology, etc, but they dont´t teach to enhance our innate art skills. Will be wonderful that one day the society will start to educate us for be the best musician or the best dancing for example. But no....... we are in a revolution where the most important is have a big head with a million of knowledge ... and with that you are the best. This is the most stupid of the world for me!!! because when you do something that you love, you will be happy doing that.. well... then in the future the society will have a million of people with a "big head" but the majority unhappy. Will be the world of the bitters................... I hope that one day the situation change.. It will be the best for all.

My ideal job

My ideal job in the future would be have a pregnancy center where women can do exercises like a style of yoga, activities in waterpool and with balls... for do easier the pregnancy and the birth.
For this job I need skills like dedication, knowledge and the most important: Love for my labor.
I would be good in my job because just now I`m preparing me for in the future be a excelent midwife... and for this I ´m studing in the best college of Chile.

My ideal job is very difficult to find, because It isn´t a job in a hospital or a place where someone recruit me..... is a job where I will be my own chief, because the center will be mine. However I will fight for be the best in my area and can be a big midwife. In my career we are 107 people, and all want to finish the career and get the title... but only a few will do this.

I know that in the first time I will have to work in hospital or clinic...but this will be only in the first time because I will fight for be the best in my area....

Your favourite subject

Today I will write about my favourite subject in my career.
My favourite subject is "bases celulares y genéticas del desarrollo ontogénico humano", especially Embriology. I like embryology because is very important and principal to know in my career. mY teachers are Felipe Venegas, Mariana Rojas and Miguel Concha. In embryology the teachers teach about the development of the embryo since fertilization until birth. We learn about the development of heart, nervous system, extremities, etc. This is very important to know because we cannot work in a job if we don´t have the basic knowledge.
This semester I have learned a lot of thinks such as cellular and molecular biology, genetic, and like I wrote previously: EMBRYOLY my favourite, in this I has learnerd the anatomy of baby in each month... the changes that experiment.. and the pregressive development.

In general I love my career but especially this subject!

My future!

hi! In the next 5 years...I`will be the best midwife in the world! I will be working in other city in south of Chile... like Concepción.. Osorno.. I don´t know!! but I will work in south.. helping to women that don´t have a lot of amenities. Maybe I will be thinking in get married :O jajaja or maybe I will have a baby...

In the first moment I will be living in Viña del Mar in a big house with my boyfriend or husband and then I will live in the south in a big house too, with a sector for attend births. I love the dogs... and i will have a big dogggggggg!!!!!!!.. mmm noo! no only one! I will have a lot of dogs! a million of dogs! My garden will be big and with a lot of trees... all will be green.

My family will come to visist me all months!! and when my parents will be very olds... they will live with me.

I will be very happy because my future will be perfect for me....... That I hope :D

The best in my area

hi friends! today I´m going to write you about the best person in my area: My aunt Marisol, she is midwife and I feel admiration for her. She always has loved babies... and when I was a little girl, I listened conversations in that she explain to my mum the fabulous of the career. I said; When I will be a adult, I will be like my aunt Marisol. A time the love for obstetric disappeared of my life, but in secundary I only had eyes for babies. My aunt is charge of neonatology and gets congretulations of the mothers that have births with her. Is so concerned, responsible, and I `am very proud of her. I´m very happy because I has followed the way of my aunt, and it`is a very cute way!!!!! the most cute of the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My career... Obstetric

My career is obstetrics... I´m studing this career because I love the babies... they `re very cute. I feel that women need special attention during the pregnancy.. and I`m happy give them this attention. We in our area can contribute to society in a lot of aspects... for example... public health.. neonatology.. gynaecology and obstetrics. Our mission is care women and babies during all the process. In the future a professional in my area will need to be very careful and empathic with the woman, for create a relax atmosfera and a good relation. But our mission also try to guide to teenegers when they are disoriented.
My favourite subjet in my career is "Bases celulares" because is very complete. Teachers teach us about biology molecular and genetics. Also I have other subjets such chemistry and " interacción con la sociedad"..... these don´t like me so much.

Hi friends!! How are you? ... well... In the picture you can see my boyfriend Jorge and me. I love this photo!! and I love him with all my heart!

Last summer we went to Canelo beach. This beach is located in Algarrobo, very near Santiago. Mi sister took this photo. It was an incredible sunny day... perfect for love and perfect for feeling buterflies, because was february 14th. I like the photo because the sea appears, and the sun gives it an ideal efect. Our love is the biggest in the world and I´m completely in love. I´m very happy when I stay with my boyfriend... I forget all the problems and only think in beautiful things. Sometimes I dream that one day we will live in a big house and that we will have a lot of children.. and also a puppy :)

I found this site last saturday when I was searching information about pre-delivery for a assignment. I visit this site when I want to get freak information about my career, for example physical exercise for relaxing the contractions during delivery. I like the site so much because it show important information that can help so much to a woman uninformed about her pregnancy. It´s good that in the web we can find information so easily..the technology is fascinating

My favourite piece of technology.

My favourite piece of technology is my notebook! I love my notebook!! I got it the last christmas...and it´was a very exciting moment! I use my notebook all nights for search information or chat with my friends. I love my notebook because with it I can be in contact with my friends all days, and do my homeworks easily. If one day my notebook leave me... my life will be so boring jajaja...

Meeting a new friend

Hi! How are you? My name`s Francisca. I`m 18 years old. I`m from Chile, and I live in Santiago city. I `m student of Universidad de Chile. I study Obstetric but my first option was medicine... I think that Obstetric is a good option too. Now I `m in my english class. This class is very interesting for me because I like so much the english. Using this blog I hope learn to write better. This blog help me to practice my english too.
